In The Metal

I have never really been a huge fan of the W124 saloons, I’ve always preferred the stuff previous to this generation of cars which all seem to be fairly boxy (W201, W124, W140 etc). But I don’t quite know what it is about the example below, I can’t pinpoint it. Maybe it’s the colour of the car or the wheels which look OEM yet are aftermarket (Carlsson 1/12) or just generally the pure simplicity of the car, anyway it has got me to take the W124 a bit more seriously.

The example below is a 300E which has 3.0L  inline 6 cylinder engine with around 180bhp

I know I’ve posted this picture before on our facebook page, but every time I come across this picture on my computer I have to give it another look and consider getting a W124 of some sort.

I had drafted this post a while before the Early Edition show on Sunday 22nd April, I had no plans of attending the show but my friend Amit dropped me a text in the morning to ask if I was at the show or was about to leave. A phone call later and I had decided to jump in with him to pop down to Northampton and try to enjoy the weather while having a look at a few nice cars. Well as soon as I’d made it to Amit’s house the clouds weren’t looking too friendly and decided to unleash some torrential rain just as Amit had finished cleaning his car.

I dried the car as best as I could and we headed down towards Northampton and the closer we got the sunnier it was! Anyway to my surprise I was lucky enough to see the above car in the metal in the car park, and it is just as stunning if not more than it is in the pictures!

Obviously I’ve got some more pictures to show you…

As you can probably guess from the amount of pictures I’ve taken of the car, I absolutely love this!
